Sam Neill is an actor who mainly stars in American films and TV shows, but was actually born in Northern Ireland in 1947. He perhaps best known for the role of Doctor Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, but is also known for his role as Captain Borodin in 1990's The Hunt for Red October, and as Doctor William Weir in 1997's Event Horizon. He also (fictionally) portrays Colonel Robert Donaldson in Mercury Rising: The Series, in three seasons from 1999 to 2000.
